Eminem Scheduled for MTV Movie Awards

Eminem

So Eminem’s already released a new single, debuted a tabloid-worthy video and appeared in public at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. What could possibly be next for the Oscar-winning rapper? The performance.

On May 31, Eminem will mark his musical return to the stage at the 2009 MTV Movie Music Awards. The 8 Mile star was the first person - outside of host - announced for the 18th annual event.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed which song he will be performing, it wouldn’t be unlike the network to park Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears in the front row for an awkward “We Made You” number.

MTV takes on YouTube with music video portal

Posted by Seth Combs Categories: Industry News, Music Videos

You read the title right, MTV is actually going back to its roots and playing videos. Well, I should actually clarify this statement. Last week, MTV launched MTVMusic.com, offering up every video ever played on MTV for your viewing pleasure. The site is simple, clean and I will probably log about a million hours a week on it just sorting through the Vintage Videos section. Since I will be on the site so much jumping from Grandmaster Flash to Genesis, I’ll post a vid of the week for your viewing pleasure to get you back into the swing of music videos. For week 1, we’re going back to Duran Duran and Hungry Like The Wolf. It’s a bit of eighties brilliance featuring face paint, a ridiculous story line and eighties hair. Enjoy!

Katy Perry Falls Hard - Again and Again and Again

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Videos, Pop, Rock

In some MTV performances, it’s the lead singer’s intention to end up on the ground. (Remember Madonna’s classic Like a Virgin number?) Unfortunately, that was not the case for Katy Perry last night.

At yesterday’s MTV Latin America bash, the “I Kissed a Girl” singer gave the foreign audience something to remember the American by. Perry - who coincidentally used a cake as a prop like - thought it would be entertaining to dive into the large dessert at the end of her song. Unfortunately for her, the entertainment she provided was clearly unscripted.

The embarrassment begins around the 4:00 mark.
