Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Videos, Pop

As we mentioned earlier, Madonna was preparing to include a Michael Jackson tribute during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Last night’s concert was held at London’s O2 arena, the same location Michael was scheduled to appear in.

In the cllp above, the singer celebrates the King of Pop with help from a look-alike performer. “Kento, my dancer, was obsessed with Michael all his life. And when Michael was having auditions for his tour, Kento really wanted to go but he’d already made a commitment to me. So now he’s about to have his moment and be Michael at my show,” said in a pre-show interview.

“I am so terribly sad about Michael Jackson’s death. I don’t know what artist wasn’t inspired by him,” she added.

Jackson’s would have celebrated his next birthday August 29. The Material Girl is only 13 days older than him.

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Rumors, Pop

Tito, Janet and Jermaine JacksonEven though refunds are now being offered for Michael Jackson’s tour, there had been rumors that his siblings could pick up some of the pieces.

Just yesterday, it was reported that the Jackson clan - including sister Janet - was considering doing a tribute tour in their brother’s honor. This supposedly could have meant performances on some of Michael’s old London dates. It also might have meant stops in the United States. It’s not clear now how the upcoming refunds would affect a gathering, if at all.

Refunds Being Offered for Michael Jackson Tickets

Michael Jackson 02 Concerts

NOTE: Refunds are only being offered to those who “purchased tickets through authorized agents.”

Later this week, refunds for Michael Jackson’s planned concerts will be offered in full.

Although many will still have to eat the cost of the flights they purchased, they will at least get back the service fees they were charged along with the ticket price.

Those wanting to remember the King of Pop could opt for a piece of memorabilia instead. Up until August 14, fans can choose to receive a commemorative concert ticket in lieu of a refund. The souvenirs, printed with the lenticular process, were designed by the artist himself.

Both options will become available starting on July 1. More information will be offered at MichaelJacksonLive.com.

Michael Jackson on Thriller album

It should come as no surprise that less than 24 hours after Michael Jackson’s death, his library is dominating the iTunes sales chart. You can check out the entire Michael Jackson music library if you want to get in on the action.

What is surprising? Although he currently has 39 entries in the Top 100, his highest chart position is #2. What’s at #1? ‘I Gotta Feeling’ from the Black Eyed Peas. (Perez Hilton’s rivals are also still sitting at #3 with ‘Boom Boom Pow.’)

So which songs are fans are downloading the most? The King of Pop’s ‘Man in the Mirror’ currently sits at #2 while ‘Thriller’ stands at #4 and ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ at #5. ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’ and ‘Smooth Criminal’ are the only other tunes ranked in The Top 10.

Update: Looks like 8 of the Top 10 iTunes albums are also Michael Jackson’s work.

Michael Jackson DiesMichael Jackson is dead.

It is alleged the ‘Thriller’ singer passed away from cardiac arrest today, June 25th 2009. The news was first broken by TMZ, with CNN reporting he was in a coma. Emergency services in California confirm they rushed a 50-year-old man to hospital this afternoon, but strict privacy laws mean that they cannot confirm if it was the singer.

TMZ reported: “Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. When paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but they had no luck. We’re told one of the staff members at Jackson’s home called 911. LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.”

The singer’s family are believed to be at the UCLA hospital in the city, which has been cordoned off by police tape.

Michael - who has three children, Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 10 and seven-year-old Prince Michael II - was believed to have been suffering from skin cancer and was due to embark on a comeback 50-date residency at O2 Arena in London next month. The first dates of the tour were delayed amid concerns for his health.

Uri Geller - one of Michael’s closest friends - told Sky News: “Like the whole world I’m absolutely devastated and lost for words because everyone expected him to come to England. He was in good health - he was rehearsing and dancing. I’m shocked.”
