Janet Jackson is set to open the upcoming American Music Awards (AMAs).
The “All For You” hitmaker will sing a medley to start the November 22 ceremony, which sees her late brother Michael Jackson nominated in five categories.
“We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show,” American Music Awards producer Larry Klein said. “She is an incredibly dynamic performer and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store.”
This will be the fourth AMAs performance for the Janet, who has won nine of the awards in previous years, and follows her moving tribute to her brother at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in September. On November 18, Jackson will also be featured in a primetime interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts.
Other stars to perform at this year’s AMAs at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre include Lady Gaga, Eminem, Jay-Z, Shakira, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Green Day, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

Bat For Lashes Frustrated by Amos Comparisons
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Alternative, Rock
Bat For Lashes hates being compared to Tori Amos.
The singer - whose real name is Natasha Khan - finds it “frustrating” and “weird” to be compared to the “Cornflake Girl” hitmaker just because of her choice in musical instrument. “I’m getting f**king tired of people saying that I sound like Tori Amos just because I play the piano. It’s just so shallow and weird and inaccurate,” she said.
Despite her frustration, the 29-year-old singer enjoys performing live because of the intense atmosphere of the crowd. “I feel like the more you sing out that stuff and the more it becomes part of this communal ritual experience, it kind of diffused the intensity of it on a tragic, personal level and becomes something that’s swirling around in the universe,” she explained.

Michael Jackson Glove Sells for $49,000
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Pop

One of Michael Jackson‘s gloves has sold for $49,000.
The famous jewel-encrusted accessory, which the late pop icon wore during his 1996 wedding to Debbie Rowe, was bought by Las Vegas Hard Rock curator Warwick Stone at an auction in Australia.
“Michael Jackson gave it to someone in public in Australia and most collectors of Michael Jackson memorabilia knew about this glove,” Warwick said. “I’ve got the chain that used to hang around Sid Vicious’ neck, I’ve got one of Elvis’ .357 magnums which he used to shoot TVs with.”
The right-hand glove was the first of Michael’s gloves to go on sale since his June 25 death, although three more are due to go under the hammer in America this year.
