Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Videos, R&B / Soul
Beyonce Knowles definitely knows how to put herself out there.
At a London concert earlier this week, Beyonce surprised fans with a rock star move during her performance of “Halo.” (Cue the video to the :20 mark to see the singer dive into the crowd.) Not only does she entrust the attendees to carry her around, she manages to simultaneously carry a tune.
See, Britney? It is possible to sing live and entertain your audience at the same time.

Fans Upset by Steep Bon Jovi Prices
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours, Rock

Bon Jovi has been blasted for “ludicrous” ticket prices for their London tour.
The “We Weren’t Born to Follow” rockers are set to play a string of dates at the city’s O2 Arena starting June 7, but fans are upset they will have to pay up to a staggering $2100 to see their idols.
General admission to the shows costs $73 for the cheapest seats, rising to $327, while the price of the highest-banded premium tickets has led angry fans to call for a boycott of the concerts.
One wrote on the group’s website: “I am going to stand up for what I believe in and use my earnings to feed my kids rather than lining some fat cat’s pockets.” Another added: “After writing an album about the world’s problems with the recession the prices are just a mockery.”

Johnny Depp to Perform with Babybird
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Performances
Johnny Depp is to play guitar live with his favorite British band.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is being lined up to appear with Babybird next month when they make their comeback at a small London venue.
Johnny, 46, has already played a large part in the “You’re Gorgeous” hitmakers’ return, by directing the video to the first single from their new album Ex-Maniac. He was pictured on the set of the video with British actor Stephen Graham, whom he starred alongside in Public Enemies.
Babybird previously revealed that Johnny was instrumental in getting the album made, after he introduced frontman Stephen Jones to some of his music producer friends. “Grammy nominated producers Bruce Witkin and Ryan Dorn were introduced to Jones by long-time Babybird fan Johnny Depp, who also makes a cameo appearance on the new recording,” a spokesperson for the group said.

London Tribute Concert Planned for Jackson
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Rumors, Videos, Pop
Ever since Michael Jackson’s death, there had been whispers about a possible tribute tour. Now it appears London may finally get a chance to celebrate the King of Pop’s music.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, there are plans to hold a concert on August 29 in the 02 Arena. That date would have marked Michael’s 51st birthday. Although it’s unclear whether Jackson’s siblings will be performing at this event, AEG Live President Randy Phillips said this might be a possibility during an earlier interview.

Is Jackson Family Considering Concert Tour?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Rumors, Pop
Even though refunds are now being offered for Michael Jackson’s tour, there had been rumors that his siblings could pick up some of the pieces.
Just yesterday, it was reported that the Jackson clan - including sister Janet - was considering doing a tribute tour in their brother’s honor. This supposedly could have meant performances on some of Michael’s old London dates. It also might have meant stops in the United States. It’s not clear now how the upcoming refunds would affect a gathering, if at all.
The family would have reportedly performed songs done by or with the King of Pop.

Refunds Being Offered for Michael Jackson Tickets
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours

NOTE: Refunds are only being offered to those who “purchased tickets through authorized agents.”
Later this week, refunds for Michael Jackson’s planned concerts will be offered in full.
Although many will still have to eat the cost of the flights they purchased, they will at least get back the service fees they were charged along with the ticket price.
Those wanting to remember the King of Pop could opt for a piece of memorabilia instead. Up until August 14, fans can choose to receive a commemorative concert ticket in lieu of a refund. The souvenirs, printed with the lenticular process, were designed by the artist himself.
Both options will become available starting on July 1. More information will be offered at MichaelJacksonLive.com.

Michael Jackson’s London Concerts Postponed
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Pop
Some of the first people in line for Michael Jackson may now be one of the last to see him in concert.
In a statement released today by AEG, the kickoff for Jackson’s London tour is being pushed back a whole five days. Unfortunately, this may actually mean a delay of a whole eight months for some.
“Due to the sheer magnitude of the This Is It concerts at the O2 Arena promoters and producers AEG Live and Kenny Ortega, Michael’s directorial partner and creative collaborator have elected to move back a few of the opening shows in order to meet the challenges presented by such a massive and technically complex show,” the concert promoter stated.
The first concert slated for July 8 will now take place on July 13. Those who had tickets for any of the next three shows will have to wait until March 2010. (July 10th is now March 1; July 12 is now March 3; July 14 is now March 6.)
Refunds are being made available for those who cannot attend their rescheduled show.

Michael Jackson to Perform 50 Sold Out London Shows
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Pop

For at least 50 nights in the upcoming year, Michael Jackson will be seen in public without his hospital mask.
Just last week, the singer announced he would be hitting the stage once again for 10 shows at England’s O2 Arena. Days later, 40 additional dates were added.
Within a short period of time, every single ticket for Jackson’s 50 concerts were snatched up. Approximately 750,000 were sold today at a rate of 11 per second. In total, over 1 million seats were bought since an earlier presale.
Michael, who has not done a full concert since 2001, claims these perfomances will be his last in London. The first half of his run begins July 9 and goes through September. The gigs then resume next January with the finale on February 24.

Britney Spears Lip Syncs Her Way Through Europe
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Performances, Pop
Less than a week before her 27th birthday, Britney Spears gave international audiences a taste of what she has in store for 2009. Unfortunately, copycat ensembles and lip synced numbers aren’t probably what fans had in mind.
Last Thursday in Germany, the pop princess gave her very first “live” performance since the 2007 VMAs. And while her appearance on the 2008 Bambi Awards was far from disastrous - the physically-fit singer seemed a bit more confident - it still could have used slightly more oomph. And originality. Strangely enough, she opted to wear an outfit identical to the one Madonna has been sporting during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Britney also chose to keep her dance moves and live vocals to a minimum.
