On TV Envy: The Oprah Winfrey Show to End in 2011

VIDEO: Whitney Houston Performs for GMA

The show may be called Good Morning America, but that didn’t keep Whitney Houston from doing it her way.

Although ABC has hosted many musicians on the program before, Houston didn’t want to perform at such an ungodly hour. Hence, the singer’s pre-taped concert today in Central Park. (The appearance will be aired tomorrow on GMA.) In total, Whitney sang four songs for the waiting crowd: “Million Dollar Bill,” “I Look to You,” “My Love Is Your Love” and “I’m Every Woman.”

Get a preview from that concert above, then set your DVRs for her interview with Oprah on September 14.

Britney Spears Lip Syncs Her Way Through Europe

Less than a week before her 27th birthday, Britney Spears gave international audiences a taste of what she has in store for 2009. Unfortunately, copycat ensembles and lip synced numbers aren’t probably what fans had in mind.

Last Thursday in Germany, the pop princess gave her very first “live” performance since the 2007 VMAs. Strangely enough, she opted to wear an outfit identical to the one Madonna has been sporting during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Britney also chose to keep her dance moves and live vocals to a minimum.

Score another one for the Disney network. Just over a week after debuting Britney’s new video, it’s being reported that ABC will also be hosting Spears’ return concert.

According to the New York Post, the pop star will be hitting New York City’s Bryant Park on December 2. The Good Morning America appearance - which happens on the singer’s 27th birthday - will air on the same day the new album, Circus, drops.

While any Britney appearance would be highly-anticipated, this winter concert carries extreme significance. The morning show gig will be the first time Spears has sung (or lip-synched) in public since her 2007 MTV spectacle. The GMA event will also help kick off the tour reportedly set for next spring.
