A tour bus carrying lighting crew members of Miley Cyrus’ tour overturned this morning, killing the driver.
The bus - one of four traveling near Richmond, Virginia - for some reason went off the side of I-85 before hitting an embankment and falling on its side. The victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene, has not yet been identified. Of the 14 passengers on-board (including the driver), 9 others reportedly sustained relatively minor injuries.
The circumstances of the 8:15 a.m. accident are still being investigated. It’s not known whether rain may have played a role.
The 16-year-old singer, who is set for a Sunday concert in Greenboro, N.C., was not traveling with any part of that caravan. At this time, she is still scheduled to perform this weekend.

Guitarist Les Paul Dead at 94
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Artist News, Rock

You may not recognize his face, but if you’re into music you’ve certainly heard his name. Les Paul was considered by many in the music industry to be a genius, something of a catalyst for modern guitar playing. If nothing else, you’ve heard of the almost-legendary guitar named for him, the Gibson Les Paul.
Paul helped create modern music as we know it today, and he continued to make sweet melodies until he was into his 90s. He died quietly this week in New York, aged 94.
“We owe many of his inventions that made the rock ‘n roll sound of today to him, and was the founding father of modern music,” said B.B. King on Paul’s death. “This is a huge loss to the music community and the world.”

VIDEO: Madonna’s Tribute to the King of Pop
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Videos, Pop
As we mentioned earlier, Madonna was preparing to include a Michael Jackson tribute during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Last night’s concert was held at London’s O2 arena, the same location Michael was scheduled to appear in.
In the cllp above, the singer celebrates the King of Pop with help from a look-alike performer. “Kento, my dancer, was obsessed with Michael all his life. And when Michael was having auditions for his tour, Kento really wanted to go but he’d already made a commitment to me. So now he’s about to have his moment and be Michael at my show,” Madonna said in a pre-show interview.
“I am so terribly sad about Michael Jackson’s death. I don’t know what artist wasn’t inspired by him,” she added.
Jackson’s would have celebrated his next birthday August 29. The Material Girl is only 13 days older than him.

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, The Charts, Pop, iTunes

It should come as no surprise that less than 24 hours after Michael Jackson’s death, his library is dominating the iTunes sales chart. You can check out the entire Michael Jackson music library if you want to get in on the action.
What is surprising? Although he currently has 39 entries in the Top 100, his highest chart position is #2. What’s at #1? ‘I Gotta Feeling’ from the Black Eyed Peas. (Perez Hilton’s rivals are also still sitting at #3 with ‘Boom Boom Pow.’)
So which songs are fans are downloading the most? The King of Pop’s ‘Man in the Mirror’ currently sits at #2 while ‘Thriller’ stands at #4 and ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ at #5. ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’ and ‘Smooth Criminal’ are the only other tunes ranked in The Top 10.
Update: Looks like 8 of the Top 10 iTunes albums are also Michael Jackson’s work.
