The late Michael Jackson was honored with four American Music Awards (AMAs) last night. In addition to wins for Favorite Soul/ R&B Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Male Vocalist, the singer won Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Soul/R&B Album for his Number Ones compilation.
Jermaine Jackson, who accepted the prizes on his brother’s behalf, paid tribute to Michael while praising his life philosophy.
Wearing a single white glove in tribute to Michael, Jermaine said: “It’s not just about the winnings, the awards. It’s mainly the message. The message Michael had will live on forever. He saw good in everyone. Start with love and let’s love each other.”

VIDEO: Jennifer Lopez Takes a Fall Without Her Louboutins

She may have mastered walking in high heels, but even Jennifer Lopez can stumble while wearing rubber soles.
During tonight’s American Music Awards broadcast, the singer/actress/dancer hit the stage for a performance of “Loubitins “Louboutins,” a horribly repetitive song from her upcoming album Love?.
In the number choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance‘s Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo, Jennifer taps into moves from her Fly Girl days while pretending to sing live at the same time. Although it’s been a while since we’ve seen Lopez during an awards ceremony, she clearly hasn’t forgotten how to get back up after a fall.
Cue the video to 2:40 mark to see her hit the floor.

Janet Jackson to Open the American Music Awards
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Awards, Performances, Pop
Janet Jackson is set to open the upcoming American Music Awards (AMAs).
The “All For You” hitmaker will sing a medley to start the November 22 ceremony, which sees her late brother Michael Jackson nominated in five categories.
“We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show,” American Music Awards producer Larry Klein said. “She is an incredibly dynamic performer and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store.”
This will be the fourth AMAs performance for the Janet, who has won nine of the awards in previous years, and follows her moving tribute to her brother at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in September. On November 18, Jackson will also be featured in a primetime interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts.
Other stars to perform at this year’s AMAs at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre include Lady Gaga, Eminem, Jay-Z, Shakira, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Green Day, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
Taylor Swift is Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Awards, Country
“I’ll never forget this moment because in this moment everything that I have ever wanted has just happened to me.”
Should Taylor Swift start packing her bags and call it a career? One week after wowing critics with her humor on Saturday Night Live, the 19-year-old reached a professional high when she perfected a clean sweep at last night’s CMA Awards.
After collecting wins for Female Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year (“Love Story”) and Album of the Year, she ended the evening with the event’s biggest award: Entertainer of the Year. Swift is now the youngest person to ever win that prize and the first solo woman since Shania Twain in 1999 to do so.
You can see a full list of winners after the jump.

Underwood, Paisley Return as CMA Hosts
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Awards, Country
If it feels like 2009 is a rehash of 2008, there might be reason. First, Russell Brand is asked to host the VMAs for the second time. Now, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are being given return gigs.
Last year’s Male and Female Vocalists of the Year will once again front the CMAs during the broadcast this fall. Combined, the two country stars have already racked up a total of 16 award from “Country Music’s Biggest Night.”
“I am thrilled to get the chance to co-host the CMAs for a second time with my pal, Carrie,” Paisley said. “This year we’ll pull out all the stops, like a miniature poodle balancing act, tightrope walking, and a new world record for the number of costume changes by my co-host. Don’t miss it!”
The 43rd Annual CMA Awards will air live November 11 on ABC.

Which had a bigger visual impact this year? Beyonce‘s “Single Ladies” dance or Lady Gaga’s eccentric outfits?
On September 13, both ladies will have the opportunity to take home 9 Moonmen from this fall’s Video Music Awards. That’s the most nominations for any artist his year. (There are only two categories - Best New Artist and Best Choreography - in which the two don’t compete against each other.)
