The past few weeks have been quite eventful for Alicia Keys. Last month, the singer debuted “Another Way to Die,” her joint production with Jack White. (The song became the first Bond title track to be performed by a duet.) Now Keys - who can be seen in the adaptation of The Secret Life of Bees - is sitting atop the AMA nominations leader board.
When the 2008 American Music Awards air next month, Alicia will up for a total of five awards including Favorite Female Artist (in both the Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories) and Favorite Album. Nominees joining her in the Artist of the Year category include Coldplay (4 noms), the Eagles (4 noms), Lil Wayne (3 noms) and Chris Brown (3 noms).
Performers already announced for the music special include the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo, Pink, the Pussycat Dolls and the New Kids on the Block. Late night host Jimmy Kimmel will preside over the event.
