Mariah Carey Apologizes for Jackson Memorial Performance

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Performances, Videos

Although Mariah Carey’s original performance of “I’ll Be There” was unplugged, yesterday’s shaky attempt had some searching for plugs. And don’t think she didn’t know it.

Hours after Michael Jackson’s memorial service, the singer turned to Twitter to apologize to her fans.

“Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me. One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people he inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts.”

Alright. We forgive you.

Her statement: I…...me…....mine….......me me me.

Just apologize for the revealing dress AT A MEMORIAL SERVICE and call it a day.

‘I’ll Be There’ is my favorite Jackson Five song, loved it the first time I heard it and always will.  I personally think that Mariah did an exceptional job and Michael would have been proud.  How many of us could speak at the memorial service for a friend, let alone sing.  Two of my favorite moments were when Mariah sang and the other was when Brook Shields spoke.

I think mariah looked appropriate….its not her fault she has boobs! Geezzzz! Some people are just born with a stick up their ass.  She sang beautiful…no one has a voice like hers it is a true gift from God.

I thought Twitter had a limit of 140 characters?

Agreed. It would have been great for a dinner or awards ceremony, but not a funeral.

Opposite of Queen Latifah, who simply threw on a shirt and pulled her hair back in a ponytail. She would have put much more effort in going to a club than she did speaking at a legendary performer’s service!

I thought Mariah did a wonderful job singing.  I thought she was dressed very tasteful as well.  Maybe a lowcut for some, but I thought she looked very pretty.  MJ would have approved.  And no apology needed Mariah.  I haven’t heard you sing that good in a long time.  Definately love when she just belts it out instead of doing runs.  I thought all in all it was a beautiful ceremony.

And must we be so critical.  I thought Queen Latifah looked great.  Probably better than I would on a good day.  Not only that…her appearance was a last minute thing.  She was an unexpected addition not long before the ceremony began from newslines that I have read.

Yes - Twitter does only allow a limited amount of characters. That statement was pieced together from the series of tweets she wrote. smile You can see them all when you click on the Twitter link above.

I must say that Mariah’s outfit was as tasteful as she can get.  Normally she wears dresses that barely cover her privates.  As for the comment stating she can’t help she has boobs, well, I guess she can, as those aren’t natural, she bought them.  Queen Latifah looked fine IMO.  I am glad to know that Mariah recognizes she butchered I’ll be there.  But you would never know it from watching the memorial because she keeps right on doing those crazy arm gestures like she is in concert.  She did sound good when she was belting out some parts of the songs, but the high parts of the song at the beginning sounded horrible.  Michael’s voice as a child was so pure and angelic, so most could never pull off any J5 song, even dancing machine when he was a teen, listen to that and see how beautiful his voice sounds.  Kudos to Mariah for acknowledging the hack job, and please lose the arm gestures.  You look ridiculous doing that at a funeral.

ok christina thanks!
